1909 Edwardian Sterling Silver Clothes Brush – Tortoiseshell Back - Hallmarked Birmingham A beautifully preserved Edwardian clothes brush, crafted in solid 925 sterling silver with a richly toned tortoiseshell back, dated 1909. This elegant grooming piece features hallmarks from the Birmingham Assay Office, along with the maker’s mark S★B for S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd. The silver edge is decorated with a classic raised border and bears the full hallmark set: the lion passant (sterling), anchor (Birmingham), and the date letter 'k' for 1909. The tortoiseshell backing (this was made before it was banned from use in manufacturing) has a lovely warm hue and gentle sheen, showing the unique character only true vintage materials can offer. The bristles are set in wood in the handle.
